Participatory Action Research as Pedagogy: Stay Messy

In this paper, we reflect on the use of Participatory Action Research (PAR) as a pedagogy. To do so, first introduce PAR and review burgeoning literature discussing pedagogical approach at university level. We then provide vignettes our independent experiences college educators facilitating within undergraduate classrooms. Through stories, engage with messy space between efforts to change unjust systems neoliberal constraints academy chokehold those efforts. narrative reflection, examine key themes across experiences, including: 1) relationship development political act; 2) importance emergent responsive pedagogy; 3) challenges associated prefiguring democratic practices in classroom.
